This year we will have an early bird prize for paid calendar stubs turned in by November 10th. We will also have a prize for the member (or non-member) selling the most calendars. Pistol

Our house Indoor Pistol League begins on Thursday, September 24th. Last year we saw a fall-off in participation for reasons unknown. It’s a fun league with 3 relays per Thursday with a make-up night at the end.  Please come out and have fun and support your club. Members and non-members are welcome. Please see Cliff’s flyer and schedule at the end of the Newsletter.

Trap League

As this is written, The Fall Trap League is into the 5th week. 42 shooters are participating, which would be 10 more than the average has been for the last few leagues. Maybe we are doing something right after all! The league ends on October 22nd with a party on Saturday, October 24th. We had a slight hiccup with equipment last week that was cleared up post - haste & replacements have been ordered; cost - $49.00.

The WNY Winter Trap League shoots at BVCS on Sunday October 25th & November 1st. Shooting hours for this event are 8:30 am - 2:00 pm both days. Hopefully, no snow will hinder the shooting this year as it has in the past. These dates being the 1st 2 weeks of that league & should bring a fair number of shooters to the club grounds. This league in the past has been profitable to our organization. Good weather & good help will be the key to success again. Howard Hoelsher & the 4 -H Young guns have once again offered to do the food sales during these 2 dates. The trap committee will cover the cost of the coffee, donuts, food & condiments again so the 2 days are beneficial to the youths that do such a great job. Thanks to the 4-h'ers in advance !!! Also needed will be some help behind the bar for these 2 days. 1 or 2 people per day would be great. Volunteers - please call me at 649 - 4651.

I would like at this time, to thank Jim Bugenhaggen for his too many years as president of The BVCS, the projects he's done & support he has shown to the organization & all of us. THANK YOU JIM !!!

The ceiling tile project has brightened the whole place up considerably. Nice job to all involved ! Maybe the users & abusers/do nothings will take note & see that things can actually be accomplished if willing to help. Enough; Thanks Ernie

Suburban Pistol

Our deadline for being eligible for a “free” shotgun is closing fast. It would be a shame if our club cannot come up with 50 new or renewal SCOPE memberships. Remember that our Club will receive a new Remington shotgun to raffle for every 50 new or renewal Scope members we sign through our Club. Please bring your application that is available at the meetings or online with your check to the club. New and renewal memberships need to be submitted through BVCS to get the credit required. This promotion ends in September. Dave Bunn is coordinating our efforts for the SCOPE promotion.

What's happening @ your club?

We must all take an active role in preserving our 2nd amendment rights.  While memberships in the NRA and Scope are very imporatnt, we also need to be contacting our politicians.  Letters, emails, phone calls go a long way in letting our politicians know how we feel.  Please take the initiative to locate and contact your politicians.  Please see the list at the end of the newsletter that may be of assistance.

Pistol

Please look forward to the fall pistol schedule that will be published in the September Newsletter.  Last year there was a decline in participation for many reasons including availability of ammunition, etc.  Members, please consider shooting the league and encouraging friends and even non-members to participate.  If we don't have enough participation it doesn't make sense for the volunteers that run the program as well as the cost of lights and heat.  It is a lot of fun, good practice and really the only competition is against yourself.

Trap League

Doubles are into the 5th week with just 1 more week to go with a small pizza party on July 23rd. There have been only 9 participating shooters. Interest has obviously waned in the doubles trap discipline. After the doubles end, we will be open on Thursdays only for open shooting until our Fall Trap League commences on Sunday, August16th when we will be open Sundays; 9:00 am - 12:00 noon & Thursdays 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Hope to see some new shooters & members come out to try their abilities at trap shooting. THANKS; The trap chairman

Suburban Pistol

Last season BVCS had another success. Look for the new schedule to be posted in the September Newsletter. We should be starting again at the end of September. New shooters are always welcome and encouraged. It is a handicap league and the more shooters the better chances we have.

Pistol

The winter league has ended. Thanks again to Cliff for running the league. Look for more information in the Newsletter for the fall league. New shooters are always welcome and encouraged to participate.

Trap League

Our Spring Trap League started March 22nd. and is scheduled to run for 10 weeks ending with a trap party in early June. Shooting hours are Sundays, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon and Thursdays, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. We have been plagued by trap fields filled with snow and continued bad weather. Of the 4 days open, so far, we've had only 1 good day. Suffice to say, the turnout of shooters has been very low. Hopefully the weather will turn better and entice more shooters to venture forth. I would like to thank Jim Buggenhagen for his efforts to clear snow for trap and the facilities in general and also for his support. We look forward to seeing more come out to enjoy the shooting sports. We will hopefully run a doubles league for 6 weeks during the summer, shooting on Thursday evenings. Fall trap will start in mid August and continue on the Sunday and Thursday schedule. As always , I would thank the faithful few that come out to labor for ""YOUR CLUB"" to make trap as successful as it is.

Thanx; Trap Chairman Miller
