Message from David Rood
Greetings,
A few of points need to be addressed. We are late as far as getting our dues invoices out for those that rely on the postage system. We should have these out shortly. Obviously, this is not your fault and is not to be construed as we don’t want you as a member or we will be hitting you with late fees. We have been having issues with e mails as well. We are trying to get the wheels on the bus however in this transition period things have fallen. We appreciate all that made it to the meeting to pay their dues. I believe we have the Email under control so we should be sending invoices out that way. Fortunately, a fair amount of you made it to last month’s meeting to pay and we are grateful for that. Your help in paying your dues quickly is appreciated.
We have been working with the DEC as far as work that we are planning to do at our property. We neighbor the Erie County Forestry property and that is deemed as wetlands. There are certain procedures and laws that need to be followed to do work at the site. The permit that we filled out is a long-term plan at property maintenance and changes that we hope to do. Which will include:
- Leveling the outdoor pistol range and increasing the berm behind it to make it a safer area to shoot.
- Improving drainage at the rifle range and increasing the size of the berm behind as well.
- Some clearing in the wooded area to the right of trap field one to provide an area for a 3rd archery trail
We don’t see any issues to getting these through the permitting process. Any work without going through this process is not a good idea. Our next meeting in October we will be voting on the approval of submitting the permit. Not to do the work, just submitting the paperwork. We will have the permit valid for 6 years.
I would like to thank John Greene, Sharon and Marc Kerr for representing the BVCS at the LEAF event in the Lions shelter. They represented us well and events like this help to take away the stigma associated with guns in today’s society. Thanks as well to the Young Guns for their display. (See below for pictures)
Respectfully,
