What's Happening @ Your Club?

Open Pistol Shooting

Tuesday nights; doors open @ 7pm. Members’ range fee is $5 and nonmembers’ fee is $10 per night. All are welcome but we encourage frequent non-members to become members and support the club. Please be aware that non-members must fill out a one-time waiver. Forms are on hand at the range.

Ammunition Updates

The ammunition restrictions for Tuesday night have been changed as follows: Any open tip (hollow point) bullet loaded in straight pistol cases at standard velocities. Also, any cast lead bullet, any poly jacketed bullet, any 22 rimfire, any frangible bullet. 22 rimfire rifles are welcome.

Full metal (hardball) jacketed bullets are still prohibited as well as any magnum loads and all black powder firearms.

We hope to see you on Tuesday night.

Trap

The BVCS Fall Trap League Will be in the 6th week when this is read. There are 54 shooters for our fall league, which is more the expected considering the spring league is usually better attended. 54 contestants gives us 6 teams. After the trap awards party on October 22nd, the "official" trap venue will cease until restarted late March of 2024.

This league, the prices have remained the same at $5.00 per round of 25 targets. Spring of 2024 an increase to $6.00 per round will have to be given some thought due to an increase of $3.05 per case of targets to $13.80 per case. We've tried for consistency for all of this year.

Thank you to all of the trap volunteers that make the trap program successful. Thank you to the Board also for their present & continued support.

2023 Fall Pistol League

Dear Pistol Shooters -

I am planning on starting the fall league on September 28, 2023 with the first relay beginning at 6pm, a second starting at 7pm and a third relay starting at 8pm.

Tuesday will be opening shooting only with Thursday reserved for league shooting.

Each week two national matches per relay will be shot for score at the 25 yard line. You can shoot one gun (22 CAL.) or two guns (22 CAL. and C.F.) for a score each week.

Come out, have fun and shoot the league. It will be great to see you again.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 337-3555 or e-mail cwfjr45@gmail.com.

Message from David Rood

Greetings,

The other day Poncho sent me a text that he was looking for a wood chipper to clean up some of the brush that he, Collin Snyder, and a few other hopefully new members of the club were cleaning up down in the rifle range.

I was fortunate to get down and see them in action, which is not easy for me. Because I, like most of you, have a full-time job that does not allow me the time to get to the club as much as I would like.

They also painted the right side of the front of the building a few days earlier that took them after dark.

There is so much to do that sometimes it can feel overwhelming. I met the painter out at the building to get a cost on what it would be to paint the exterior of the building.

Afterwards I took some pictures of our club.

This club is maintained by a lot of unsung heroes that clean, mow and trim our facility. Not to mention the people it takes to run and organize trap, pistol, even meals for our meetings.

We tend to take things for granted, "somebody else will take care of it," "that is what I pay my dues to the club for."

If we had to pay the people that volunteer it would probably add at least $60,000 to the annual budget.

As I add the number of people that volunteer their time to run trap, pistol, and Young Guns to that number, I think I am very conservative on that amount.

This club has been built on members that if they see something they pick it up, or find a broom and sweep it up.

Members who ask, "How can I help?"

Come to the meetings on the third Monday of every month at 7:30 pm. I try to get us out in under an hour and then afterwards stick around for a $5.00 meal and talk and get to know us.

If you are an old member and see someone you don’t know, introduce yourself, welcome new members.

Come and make a difference. Have a thought? Talk to me, or anyone on the board, before or after the meeting. We have a great club, with good members.

We have calendars and gun raffle tickets available for you to purchase or sell. Please stop by the meeting, nights we are open, or call me or a member to get some.

Sincerely,

Dave Rood
