Trap League

In case you missed Ernie’s Trap report at the December meeting, here is a recap:  Trap shooting ended for the year at BVCS in October with the exception of the WNY Winter Trap League which shot a BVCS Nov.24 & Dec 1.

During the 2013 shooting year, we ran 3 leagues; Spring trap, summer doubles & fall trap. The 2014 schedule should read about the same, with the Spring League stating on Sun., March 16.

Over the course of the shooting season, it takes a lot of man hours to do what gets done, especially for the 2 days the WNY League shot at our facilities. During these 2 days we served over 80 squads of shooters, throwing approx. 10,000 targets. I would like to thank all of the helpers; John Mentlewski; our league score keeper, Dave Gwynne, Dave Bortel, Dave Karb, Dave Smith, Dan Kaszubowski, Bob Schneider, Lynn Burgess & Joe Simmeth. Also, anyone else that contributed any other help to trap. No matter how small or large a job done, it was well appreciated.

The 4-H crew made life a little easier with the great job the kids did in the kitchen for the 2 day shoot.  Food was good & served in a timely manner & the facility cleaned, not only the food area, but the whole of the building that was used. It is hoped with the donation by the Trap Committee of the foodstuffs prepared by the 4-Hers, their cause was helped. Once again --GREAT JOB!!!

Thank you Jim Buggenhagen for your support & help over the year.  For the 2013 season trap took in $6,724.00, inclusive of the $1406.00 taken in for the 2 day shoot.  Again a job well done! I look forward to seeing the old & hopefully some new shooters & helpers this coming spring.

Trap Chairman; Ernest P. Mill

The Shot Heard throughout New York State

""Embattled"" farmers met at Concord Bridge to confront British regulars who had marched from Boston in the dark of night, in order to seize their firearms.  There, they fired ""The Shot Heard Round the World"".  Patriots in Concord, New York will fire a symbolic shot at 12 noon, January 11th, 2014, to protest the 1st anniversary of the NYS ""Safe Act"" passed in the dark of night.  The SFSC is urging gun owners throughout New York State to fire their symbolic shot at 12 noon too.  All gun owners, hunters and shooters will fire in a legal, safe manner.

The Springville Field and Stream Club (SFSC), Springville New York is urging all sportsman's clubs in the state to spread the word about The Shot Heard throughout New York State.  We are asking sportmans's clubs e-mail the Springville Field and Stream Club with what they are doing to support this 2nd Amendment issue.  SFS Club's e-mail contact addresses are: rkaz800 [at] live.com or rblturtle [at] verizon.net or larry_1 [at] roadrunner.com.  Remember to fire your shot in a legal and safe manner.
